What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag

Sat, 5 October 2019

Spring brings with it lots of newborns and not just the lambs! We’ve had a couple of babies born in the Rockies family in recent months so thought we would jot down the lifesavers for the hospital bag. It’s definitely an example of less is more and it entirely depends on what sort of birth and where you’re having it but here are our essentials.

Merino, merino, merino – we cannot shout this from the mountain tops anymore! This wonderous fibre needs to be the first touch to baby’s skin. It is breathable, temperature regulating and promotes great sleep even in the first few days, weeks and months.

Our favourite newborn brands which stock merino goodness are Dimples, Nature Baby, Little Flock of Horrors and Lamington.

We have to mention the Minti Brother/Sister crews and onesies too – very cute for that photo op when siblings are meeting for the first time. Shop the Minti Sister Furry CrewMinti Sister Crew, Minti Brother Tee, Minti Brother bodysuit and Minti Sister bodysuit.

For that going home outfit the ensembles from Wilson + Frenchy are too cute to pass up.  We love them.

See our list below:

2 x merino singlets – Little Flock of Horrors

3 x cotton singlets with domes – Nature Baby

2 x merino onesie – Dimples

2 x cotton onesie – Nature Baby

1 x swaddle - Love to Dream

2 x woollen booties or socks – Lamington

2 x woollen hats – Nature Baby

1 x woollen baby blanket - Little Flock of Horrors

1 x going home outfit – Wilson + Frenchy

Waterwipes (plus any barrier cream etc)

Car seat

Toiletries and clothes for Mum (don't forget your hot water bottle - hospitals can be cold!)

If you're looking for the perfect newborn gift then our Jujo shwraps and blankets are ideal - so precious! Also the outfits from Alex & Ant and Aster & Oak are very much gift-worthy and it is often a good idea to purchase a gift the baby can grow into (babies are flooded with gifts that are newborn-sized!).

Hope this has been helpful.

Love from all at Rockies x
