Fathers Day Activity Ideas

Thu, 29 August 2019

Dad’s day is just around the corner and we thought we’d help you out with a few of our favourite things to do on Sunday 1st September which happens to also be the first day of Spring.  It doesn’t need to cost the earth and we’re all about getting outside and enjoying that new season sunshine (hopefully!).

  1. Breakfast in Bed complete with handmade card. We love Vanessa Baxter of the Fearless Kitchen’s recipes because they encourage kids to get in the kitchen and give you a hand.  Some of her recipes are online and we are swooning at the thought of American-style pancakes or beer scones (although the latter are strictly for Dad only!).  Check out her recipes here.
  2. Perfect for burning off that big breakfast is a walk on one of New Zealand’s great tracks. There are so many tracks to choose from and literally every corner of NZ has walkways suited to all abilities, ages and fitness levels.  Check out the DOC site for the best tracks near you! Alternatively going for a bike ride is a great activity the whole family can enjoy.
  3. Play golf or even better mini golf as it’s something most of the family can enjoy. Most centres in New Zealand have a mini golf course and this activity offers just the right amount of friendly family competition. The driving range is a great option for older kids too.
  4. Do a puzzle together which is perfect if the weather isn’t playing ball. We’ve got a great range on our site so check them out here.
  5. Help Dad build something - from flat pack furniture to a new garden shed it really is about spending the time together. Or better still help with a Spring Clean tidy up – that’s definitely one way to keep Mum happy too!

Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing Dads out there from Rockies x
